May 12, 2012 General Election Results
The results for Saturday's General Election are as follows: Melissa City Council Place 1 - Julie Anderson, Place 3 - Nicco Warren, and Place 6 - Dave Kasson. Melissa ISD School Board: Rickie Lafon, Anthony Figueroa, and Carolyn Spurgin. There will be a runoff for City Council Place 5 between Ellen Worsham and Dick Hayden that will take place on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Stay tuned for more information on that! Melissa City Council Celebrates Opening of New Hike and Bike Trail
Runners, exercise enthusiasts and families alike, all have something new to celebrate here in Melissa! On Tuesday evening the City Council and Staff gathered near Melissa and Fannin Roads to officially open the new City of Melissa Hike and Bike Trail. Be sure to check out the trail for yourself! No Hand-held Cell Phones in School Zones
The Melissa Police Department reminds you that the use of hand-held mobile telephones are prohibited in school zones. The City has posted the required signs and the Melissa Police Department will enforce this ordinance. Should you have any questions, please contact the Melissa Police Department at (972) 838-2033.
The project along Fannin Road and Melissa Road between US 75 and SH 5 is underway with a scheduled duration through April 5, 2012. The City asks all residents for their understanding and thank you for your cooperation during this important project for the City of Melissa. Click here for schematic designs.
Recent rainstorms, improving long term weather forecasts and on-going water conservation efforts by consumers, all combined to allow NTMWD to return to published Stage 3 water provisions. Beginning April 1, 2012, Melissa water customers are now allowed to use irrigation systems once a week - currently users are restricted to watering once every two weeks. The Melissa Police Department Announces Creation of a Telephone Tip Line
The Melissa Police Department tip line is now active and is for Melissa residents to use for non-emergency situations. The phone number is 972-838-2075 and callers are able to leave a message for the Police to follow up on their tip. Visit the Police Department's Webpage for more information.
